Constance is a lively university town of 82,000 people and is located on the banks of Lake Constance (Bodensee). The city has a very attractive historic downtown area with medieval buildings. The many students make for a relaxed atmosphere in the city. Its wonderful location on the lake and the proximity to the Alps and neighboring Switzerland make Constance a course location that offers a wide range of recreational opportunities.
Thanks to the University of Constance, which is one of only 11 Germany Excellence Universities, the city has fantastic infrastructure for international students and offers a wide range of cultural events, such as concerts, theater and film festivals, as well as a large number of bars, cafes, clubs and restaurants.
Constance can be reached quickly and easily from Zurich Airport.
The language school for German in Constance
Our course center in Constance is located in a modern, nicely furnished building, which offers all the conveniences of a guest house. All the classrooms are bright and large with up-to-date, high quality equipment. The Humboldt-Institut in Constance is a licensed test center for the TestDaF and telc exams.
The German courses in Constance have a relaxed atmosphere. This is largely to the school’s convenient size and location, a mere 15-minute walk from Lake Constance and the University of Constance. The city center is also only a few minutes away by bus, but can also be reached by foot from the lake through a very beautiful park.

As at all Humboldt-Institut locations, our Constance course center has housing directly on campus. Students may stay in modern and comfortable single rooms or double rooms (such as for couples) with en-suite bathrooms. All rooms feature TV and Wi-Fi access.
A laundry service is free of charge to students.
Living on campus offers many advantages for our students: They live in a German-speaking environment and have the opportunity to practice their newly acquired language skills outside the classroom.
In addition to the accommodation, the course fee includes full board, which consists of three main meals per day as well as fruit and coffee during the breaks. The regional cuisine our chef prepares is of outstanding quality and will satisfy the most discerning palates. Upon request, we also provide for vegetarian or dietary restrictions.

German courses & prices
In Constance, the Humboldt-Institut offers intensive German courses for executives in private lessons. The German courses for executives from business, politics and culture are aimed at participants who want to learn German for professional reasons or improve their job-related German skills. For this clientele, time is a scarce commodity. The courses are therefore offered as highly intensive individual courses with 30 or 40 lessons (45 minutes each) per week and the content is tailored to the needs of the course participants.
What is included?
All courses with accommodation include all lessons, course materials, residential accommodation, full board, laundry service, airport transfer, leisure activities, excursions (including entrance fees) and a course certificate.
Courses without accommodation include all lessons, course materials, airport transfer, a course certificate and lunch (Monday to Friday).
What is my level of German? You are welcome to have your German language level tested at our institute before your course starts. Please call to make an appointment for the test. Alternatively, you can test your German skills by taking our online placement test. Please note: the online test is only a rough guideline; it does not replace the placement test in the school.
Learners with previous German knowledge may begin a course on a weekly basis upon previous agreement and depending on the placement test results.

Arrival and departure
Our day of arrival is the Sunday before the course starts and the departure day is the Saturday after the end of the course.

Arriving by your own car?
The Humboldt-Institut is located north of the city center and has its own parking lot (free of charge).
Railway station
The Constance train station is 10 minutes by car or bus from the course center.
Airport transfer
If students wish to be picked up from the airport, we can arrange an airport transfer service from and to the airports Friedrichshafen (FDH) and Zurich (ZRH) free of charge.

Learning German all day long
German is spoken during the meals, which our students eat together. You will also learn a lot about the German cuisine and food culture, typical German dishes, as well as cultural aspects that are not covered in class. Leisure time (afternoons, evenings, weekends) are spent together with other international students who also live on campus. This gives all students the opportunity to continue practicing and enhancing their German skills all day long, which enhances and speeds up the learning process.
