Mountains so close you can almost touch them. In the heart of the Allgäu region — a popular holiday destination — Kempten is an ideal starting point for excursions to the peaks of the Allgäu Alps, to Lake Constance and to the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle. The neighboring countries of Austria and Switzerland, as well as the city of Munich are a short trip from the school.
Even the Romans appreciated this favorable location. They established their city of Cambodunum on the site of today’s Kempten, making it one of the oldest cities in Germany. Whether you are interested in the many recreational opportunities in the surrounding area or in a stroll through downtown, Kempten has plenty to offer, no matter what your tastes are.
Our German courses in Kempten take place at the JUFA family hotel in friendly, modern classrooms. The JUFA is located in a quiet residential area above the city center, about a 20-minute walk into town.
Our students are housed in the same building where the classes are held. The JUFA offers modern triple and a few four-bed rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms.

We carefully choose the students who will share a room with each other. We take care to match roommates who have a comparable German language level and are of similar age, yet speak different native languages. This way we encourage them to speak and practice German with each other outside of the classroom. Boys and girls are housed separately.
Our students receive three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
Laundry service is offered to all students free of charge once a week for their personal laundry. Bed linen and towels will be provided and changed regularly.
The CamboMare leisure center with outdoor pool, water slides and sports pool is adjacent to the school and provides fun and excitement. As always at the Humboldt-Institut, the entrance fee is already included in the course fee. We will regularly offer bike tours in the surroundings on our school-owned mountain bikes.
Every day we offer an attractive and varied activity program with sports, games or cultural events for the leisure time after class. Our staff will encourage and motivate students to participate in the activities. This leisure program is included in the tuition fees.
The following leisure activities are offered:
BadmintonEvery Saturday, our staff members organize and accompany full-day excursions to attractive destinations. Every Wednesday, our students will have half-day excursions to sights and interesting towns within the region. The excursions and the entrance fees are already included in the course fee.
